Like a jewel, the Emerald Sea is delicately revealed after a boat trip of about 30 minutes ... For a more authentic ride, prefer sailing dhows to motorboats. During the crossing, the waves are sometimes surprising and you may be wet when arriving on the island. Some canoes also offer waxed or tarpaulin for the return.
On the way, you will probably meet other dhows but also kite surfers. The region of Diego is indeed a spot very popular with sports enthusiasts. After an hour of crossing (from Ramena) you dock on a small island where falafa boxes have been arranged. They will protect you from the wind, which will be very appreciable at the time of the meals. The island is a real invitation to sunbathing. You can also practice snorkeling or discover the island.
The packages offered by the boatmen generally include the meal and the drinks (icy!) You will appreciate in particular the grilled fresh fish and the coconut rice. The lucky ones will have crab or lobster. With a little organization, you can consider a camp on the island. A small solar shower will allow you to desalt before going to bed.
Remember that the return can be quite hectic! With the wind, it can be cold quickly, so be forewarning!
